Jacob Nash graduated from the NIDA Design Course in 2005. Since then he has worked in Theatre, Television and Film. From 2011 he has worked with Bangarra Dance Theatre, first as an Artist in Resident and currently as their Head Designer. He has created the sets for each of Bangarra’s productions since joining the company, working with world renowned choreographers such as Stephen Page and Frances Rings to create the stage design for Of Earth & Sky, Belong, Terrain, Blak, Dance Clan 3, Patyegarang, Lore and Ochres. He also designed Warumuk – in the dark night Bangarra’s collaboration with The Australian Ballet, celebrating their 50th anniversary.
In 2010, he designed Of Earth & Sky for Bangarra, winning a Green Room Award for Best Design in Dance. Jacob has also created the digital content for The Spirit of Patyegarang and Eora for Vivid Sydney 2014 and 2015 and the company’s merchandise designs. In 2015, he Production Designed Stephen Page’s feature film Spear. Jacob’s other credits include The Lonesome West, Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train; Yibiyung and Ruben Guthrie (Belvoir St Theatre); Macbeth (Bell Shakespeare); The Removalists, Tusk Tusk / Like a Fishbone (Sydney Theatre Company) and Romeo and Juliet (Sydney Theatre Company – Education); Rainbow’s End (Parramatta Riverside Theatre); Into: Belonging (Sydney Festival/ Parramatta Riverside Theatre). Jacob was also the specialist production designer for Cleverman Season One.
